Rented Alpha Dog Against My Better Judgement
I rented and watched Alpha Dog last night going against my better judgment. I heard some really good things about it from friends, so I decided to give it a shot.
First off, the movie is pure fluff. You don’t believe anyone’s performance or circumstances for a second. For the subject matter, I was expecting at least some grit. Well, ok. There was one scene that was near flawless. Sure it lasted only 4 seconds, but it was still amazing. It was when one of the kids was arrested by the coppers. Man, whoever they got to play the cops, they were amazing! You may think I am kidding or being sarcastic, but I am completely serious. They delivered their total of 3 lines with such umph and conviction. This 3 seconds of footage is what the rest of the movie was missing.
In contrast, the worst scene in the entire move was a performance by Sharon Stone - Something straight out of a Mad TV skit:
